Location: Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota

Story: Recently, a few things have been drawing my curiosity: people pushing way past what seems physically possible, and where America’s food comes from. It’s at this intersection that we meet Elliott Waldock — Ultra runner and farmer. We met at a 200-miler: He was running, I was on assignment.

Somewhere in our conversations, I learned that he works on his family’s farm on a reservation up north. That stayed with me… A month later, it was still rattling around my head. So a DM was sent, and two weeks later, I was cutting a vacation short to drive north to document his life for 36 hours.
